Winter Fine Particulate Air Quality in Cranbrook: 1973-1999

This report presents the results of winter monitoring of fine particulate matter in Cranbrook from 1973 to early 1999. It attempts to explain the indicated trends using local observations and
knowledge and published reports of the experiences of other North American locations over this period. Annual
fine-particulate-matter levels in Cranbrook during the 1990s are compared with those from a rural site and against
current air quality guidelines. Finally, some predictions are made about future fine particulate matter and air quality.
